Things to do at Oak House No.1 – Falconry
Guests often want some interesting things to do at Oak House No.1 and I can certainly recommend an afternoon of Falconry. Just a few miles away we spent half a day in the company of some beautiful birds, owls, falcons and even eagles. If you have never experienced it before this is something special, getting to first hold the birds on your arm so close up and then later to fly them. The instructor sends the bird away, flying up high to a faraway tree, then calls it back to your outstretched arm. The sheer elegance and serenity of the bird in flight is a sight to behold, but when it comes at speed silently towards you then spreads it’s wings out to break and land on your arm, well that is quite breathtaking. So to add to your luxury hotel in the Cotswolds and looking for things to do,let Oak House No.1 arrange a session for you too. We can also organise many sightseeing tours either by chauffeur driven car or in your own so please ask for details. Oak House No.1 is not just right in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds, but many other great places are very nearby. Bath is just 35 minutes away and well worth a visit to see the Royal Crescent and the Roman Baths or perhaps do a little shopping. In the opposite direction is Oxford and on the way Blenheim Palace, home of Sir Winston Churchill and a great place to spend an afternoon. Of course there are many beautiful country Estates and gardens too in the area and we would suggest that a visit to Hidcote house and gardens is a must, from Oak House No.1 it takes just 45 minutes. Most guests are just so happy to wander a few metres from our door at Oak House No.1 and find themselves in the middle of Tetbury with a choice of so many antique shops and independent stores. Of course there is Prince Charles’ flagship Highgrove Shop just around the corner, the perfect place for finding a gift, then again many guests just like lounging around in their luxury room.
